Review-

Regular readers of my blog will know my penchant for anything Italian so when I was offered the chance to review this for the blog tour, I was always going to snap it up.

I’ve got a particular soft spot for the Tuscan region and spent a wonderful few days in and around Sam Gimignano several years ago so it was a pleasure to revisit some of the glorious scenery through the pages of this book.

I confess to finding Abi’s character frustrating initially, even though as more details unfolded, I could begin to understand her need to control everything to the nth degree.

It was therefore heartwarming to see how the escape to the vineyard allowed her to soften her hard edges and reconsider what was important in life.

Her best friend Holly definitely became a favourite character as I loved how her support for Abi never wavered and yet she steadfastly resolved to break down her defences to allow her to live more freely again.

The setting, the food (with mouthwatering descriptions of the dishes on offer at Xavier’s restaurant) and of course, the wine make this a perfect escapist read and with a douse of romance thrown in for good measure, it shapes up for a delightful way to while away a few hours soaking up the Italian sun.

With thanks to the author, Rachel at Random Resources and Aria Fiction for the opportunity to participate in the tour.

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only ten years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing escapist romance is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels and I now also write cozy crime, but my first love has always been romance. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations and descriptions of food to make you drool.

Review-

I can never resist an opportunity to read and review a novel from T A Williams, whether it’s one of his cozy crime series or, as in this case, his wonderful Italian romances.

There was a different feel to this one from previous books I’ve read (type the author’s name in the search bar to access other reviews) as while there were still the usual trademark features, there was a distinctly more emotional undercurrent to the plot line which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I loved the premise of Amy being left the grand Tuscan property by an unknown benefactor and the zest she showed in immediately starting on the renovations. The obvious contrast between her life in London with her stay in Italy only served to accentuate the beautiful setting and it was no surprise to read of her considering staying longer from the outset.

As I’m sure was intended by the author, I took an immediate dislike to Gavin and wholeheartedly supported Amy as new romance began to blossom.

Max the Labrador was a delight as usual; I mean it just wouldn’t be a T A Williams book without an adorable canine would it?

And as always, the essence of Italy and Tuscany in particular leaps from the pages, with evocative descriptions of the landscape, the people and the cuisine.

Definitely one to indulge in on a warm summer’s night with a glass of Italian wine in hand! Cin cin!

With thanks to the author and Rachel at Random Resources for the opportunity to participate in this blog blitz.

This is another resounding triumph from one of my favourite authors! (Search T A Williams to find previous reviews)

I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Tuscany through the eyes of Dan Armstrong once more and, of course, his wonderful sidekick Oscar the Labrador who is simply adorable.

As with any T A Williams novel, the descriptions of the setting, the glorious food and wine of the region transport the reader to Italy and I often find myself yearning to take a return trip there to sample the delights in person.

I particularly liked the backstory to this one dealing with environmental issues and the differing views of the characters towards the local wolves which added a really different perspective to the crime.

There is plenty of humour peppered throughout which helps keeps the tone lighthearted and the variety of characters who potentially could be implicated in the murder help keep the reader guessing.

A hugely enjoyable read!

#EscapeToTuscany

Review-

It’s hard to believe this is the author’s debut novel! It’s beautifully written, evocative and poignant and thoroughly captivating.

The descriptions of the Tuscan countryside and Florence add a real sense of place and time to the narrative and certainly help add to the romance of the story, despite one half of the dual timeline being set in World War Two.

The past and present day are defined by chapters written either from Stella’s or Tori’s perspective. The historical aspect is particularly interesting and has clearly been well researched.

It’s hard not to empathise with Tori’s conflicted emotions in the present day as she embarks on a new romance with lawyer Marco, given the way she has been treated in the past by both her husband and family members and this aspect of the storyline is sensitively portrayed.

A delightful read and definitely recommended! I look forward to reading more from the author.

Regular readers of this blog will know I’m a huge fan of this author’s work and have regularly reviewed his previous ‘Dreaming of…’ and ‘Escape to Tuscany’ series.

I was also privileged to be part of the blog tour for ‘Murder in Tuscany’; the first book in this cozy mystery series.

Despite the shift in genre, there is still plenty of trademark T A Williams to be found in this mystery series. An easy, but thoroughly engaging read from the outset, in ‘Murder in Chianti, we are once again reacquainted with Dan and his trusty Labrador Oscar as they find themselves embroiled in helping to solve another local murder.

The relaxed writing style allows Williams to inject plenty of dry humour into the storyline and I often found myself chuckling at some of Dan’s observations as he narrates in the first person. Oscar, as always is delightful! ( A T A Williams novel is never complete without a dog who is the star of the show!)

The mystery element maintains a good pace with many characters leaving themselves open as suspects and with enough red herrings to keep the reader guessing until the end.

And, as always, the description of Chianti makes me yearn to revisit!

Another triumph and most definitely recommended!

I’m delighted to be one of today’s stops on the blog tour for ‘Tilly’s Tuscan Teashop.’

Welcome to Tilly’s Tuscan Teashop, the first book in a brand new series from the author of the Hummingbird Hotel and the Cornish Confetti Agency series.

When photographer Natalie Nicholson’s beach hut studio – and everything she’s spent the last two years working on – is destroyed in a fire, she doesn’t think things can get any worse. Until she sees her boyfriend Josh Clarke on Instagram frolicking on a palm-fringed Balinese beach with a fellow cabin crew member.

Devastated and heartbroken, she heads to Italy to help out at her sister’s English teashop in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, where she encounters sun-dappled hilltop villages with attractive terracotta bell towers, cobbled piazzas housing world-famous art and architecture, and a national fixation with getting from A to B as quickly as possible whether in a glamourous Ferrari, a scarlet Vespa, or a snail-like ape.

With handsome local filmmaker-cum-waiter Matteo Ferretti on hand to guide her, can Tilly learn to ditch her workaholic ways and embrace the Italian pursuit of la dolce vita? Or will she miss out on
her chance at a happy-ever-after?

Review-

This is the first book in a new series and if the rest are as good as this one, it’s going to be a corker.

It may seem a strange time of year to be reading a story set in the beautiful sunny surroundings of the Italian countryside but actually this was a perfect pick-me-up and offered a real sense of escapism.

Tilly’s character is immensely likeable and her journey of self discovery as the story progresses is truly heartwarming.

I also love how the bond between Tilly and her sister Olivia is portrayed and that it is Tilly’s wish to show her gratitude that is the catalyst for her transformation, without her really realising it.

Author Daisy James is skilled at making you feel as if you’re actually there in Tuscany with her descriptions of the surroundings and the food. The afternoon teas sound totally tantalising and I loved the unusual combinations created.

A delightfully feel-good read. I’m already looking forward to discovering the next one in the series.

Readers of this blog will know I’m a huge fan of T A Williams’ work and a search of his name here will offer plenty of reviews of his previous bestselling romances set in Italy.

This novel is a departure from the norm to some extent as he forays into the world of cosy crime.

That said, there is an abundance of typical features to be found within this new genre and fans will be delighted that the trademark Labrador is still very much present; in this case, it is Oscar who resides over proceedings!

The author always creates a vivid picture of the setting in the reader’s mind and the villa Volpone, set high in the Tuscan hills is no exception. Coupled with the usual descriptions of the delectable food and drink on offer, you can’t help but imagine yourself there, even amidst the crime that has taken place.

I found this just as easy a read as the author’s previous novels and felt a real empathy for the main character of Dan.

I’m already eagerly anticipating the next book in the series!

*Publication Day Push* Second Chances in Chianti- T. A. Williams

I’m delighted to be taking part in today’s publication push for this latest novel by T. A. Williams.

Alice thought her future was set in stone, until her past came knocking…

Alice Butler starred in a successful US sitcom until tensions in the cast and crew caused the show to be cancelled. Now, five years later and working towards her dream job in art history, she’s called back for a revival of the show. It can only end in disaster, surely?

Flown to a villa in Chianti to meet with the rest of the cast, Alice must decide where her future lies – with her boyfriend, David, who laps up the Hollywood company, or with the mysterious Matt, who shies away from public attention?

Review:

As a huge fan of this author’s previous books, I was excited to be asked to be part of the publication push and couldn’t wait to dive into the pages and transport myself to Tuscany!

This is the beauty of a T. A. Williams novel; each one is so beautifully depicted that the reader is drawn into the sights, sounds and smells of la Bella Italia! ‘Second Chances in Chianti’ is set in the heart of the Tuscany region and you will undoubtedly want to visit for yourself to sample the food, wine and glorious vistas described in the book by the time you reach the end!

No T. A. Williams novel is complete without a furry friend to steal the show and win the heart of the main character and in this one, Guinness, the adorable Labrador, is a delightful feature throughout who certainly helps to break the ice between Alice and Matt.

I loved the portrayal of the different characters; from those gripped by the ideals of a Hollywood lifestyle and fame and fortune, to those more down-to-earth who would prefer to shy away from the limelight. Alice finds herself torn between the two and it’s interesting to see how her mindset evolves and changes as the story progresses.

This is another light-hearted romance from a hugely popular author. If you’ve yet to pick up one of his novels, what are you waiting for? Get reading this one!

With thanks to the author, Canelo and @rararesources for the opportunity to take part on publication day.

I’m delighted to be taking part in this blog tour on publication day for T A Williams’ latest release, ‘Under a Siena Sun’.

Lucy needed a change of scene. She didn’t expect the change of a lifetime.

She’s soon falling for the sportsman but is she losing herself in this world of excess? All she’s ever wanted was to help the underprivileged, so can her future lie in Siena at the clinic – with David?

This sunny romance is the perfect summer escape for fans of Lucy Coleman and Alex Brown.

Review-

Being a long-time fan of this author’s ‘Dreaming of’ series, as well as a self-confessed Italophile, I was eager to read this latest offering, ‘Under a Siena Sun’.

A trademark of T A Williams’s writing is his incredible ability to transport the reader into the heart of Italy and this book is no exception. The spectacular Tuscan countryside, along with the deliciously flavoured local delicacies are truly brought to life and offer a perfect escape for the imagination.

No T A Williams book is complete without its obligatory canine character and in this one, we are treated to not one, but several labradors, although undoubtedly it is Boris who steals the show!

The central characters, Lucy and David come from vastly different worlds, but the story of their developing friendship and eventual romance is perfectly portrayed and I found myself totally enthralled and invested in their relationship.

It is testament to how much I enjoyed this book that I finished it in two sittings! A highly recommended summer read!
